Being pregnant can be scary at any time in your life. This might especially be the case if you are young. Other people’s reactions or judgements may also be a concern. It can understandably be difficult to approach someone for help, but there are people you can talk to for advice along every step of the way, from how to tell your parents to what kind of options you have.

There are lots of organisations, along with your doctor or local clinic who could give you support. It’s important that you make sure that you are in a position where you have access to the help you need for yourself, the baby, and the father. The stress of telling people or dealing with it may make you feel like you want to run away.

It can also be difficult to be the father in a young pregnancy – you may find that people are trying to put a lot of pressure and responsibility on you from a very early stage of the pregnancy. On the other hand, you might find that parents or carers on either side try to remove your control or involvement, which can be hard too. Remember that if you want it, there is some support available to you too, should you want it.

It’s a good idea for both of you to get together and have an open and honest conversation with each other about what you want for the future, and where you want to go for support with it.

We hope what you see here helps. If you are feeling like running away or are away from home, we are here to listen.
