If you’re living in care or away from your family it’s important that people are checking in with you and ensuring that you’re as happy as possible. Article 25 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child means that when you’re living in care, or away from your family, your situation should be regularly reviewed.
If you feel that your situation isn’t being regularly reviewed, or that your feelings aren’t being taken into account, it may be a good idea to speak with someone about whats going on. If you’re thinking of running away because you’re not happy with your situation, you can contact the Runaway Helpline for free and confidential support on 116000, 24 hours a day.
If you’d like more information about this right and the other rights you have, you can visit the Children and Young People’s Commissioner Scotland’s website to learn about all of your rights.
