You should be protected from all kinds of harm and violence

Whatever happens in your life, you shouldn’t have to live in fear of harm or experience violence. Article 19 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child means that you should be protected from all kinds of harm and violence.

If you’re experiencing harm or violence, it’s really important that you speak with someone about your situation. If you, or someone else, are in immediate danger or require emergency help, it’s important that you call 999 to get the help and support you need to be safe.

If you’re thinking of running away because you’re scared you’ll be harmed, or you’re experiencing violence, you can contact the Runaway Helpline for free and confidential support on 116000, 24 hours a day.

If you’d like more information about this right and the other rights you have, you can visit the Children and Young People’s Commissioner Scotland’s website to learn about all of your rights.
