Most kinds of change can be unsettling – even if you are used to being on the move. Moving to a new placement can be quite daunting and with new faces, different ways of doing things and a new room and it can take time to settle in. It’s quite normal in these circumstances to want to spend some time alone, which is ok, but it might mean that getting used to your new placement takes a bit longer.
If you are unhappy in your new placement it is important for you to know that you are not alone in this and that there are people out there who belong to services that give what is called ‘advocacy’.
Advocates will speak for you on your behalf, advising you on your rights and helping get your views across about how you are feeling to people who can hopefully make a difference.
The Runaway Helpline can only provide services to children and young people within the United Kingdom, and information and advice on this site relates to the UK only.
