Home is supposed to be a happy, safe place where you feel comfortable, but, as we all know, sometimes that’s not the case. Being unhappy is bad enough, but when you’re unhappy because of something happening at home, it can be that bit worse.
There can be a lot of reasons for being unhappy at home, maybe you’re not being allowed out or being kept to strict curfews or bedtimes that you feel you’re too old for. Maybe you’re feeling like no one is there when you need them, you’re being hit or arguing with other family members. Written down, some can look more serious than others, but if you are unhappy at home and you’re thinking about running away, it’s important.
Unless you are being hurt at home, running away with nowhere safe to go should be one of your last options. There are a lot of people out there who can help with all the things listed above. The Runaway Helpline team is here for you for free, on 116 000 if you’re so unhappy at home that you’ve already left or you’re thinking about leaving.
The Runaway Helpline can only provide services to children and young people within the United Kingdom, and information and advice on this site relates to the UK only.I understand
