If you or your family doesn’t have enough money to be able to buy enough food or clothes for you, or can’t afford to keep you warm because they can’t pay for heating, then your family are probably struggling with poverty.

There is some help for young people living in poverty – if your parents earn under a certain amount, you should be able to get free lunches at your school, which means you would get at least one hot meal a day. For food for the rest of the family, there are food banks, which are places you can go to get long-life food (like food in cans that won’t go out of date as fast as other foods) which should feed your family for three days, and there are people there who can give your family advice on other places you can go to get help.
