Neglect is when you are not being looked after in the way that you should be. Neglect can be lots of different things; it may be that your parent or carer is not feeding you properly, or not keeping you clean, warm, clothed properly, or giving you a clean and safe enough environment to live in.
If you feel like you are being neglected, you may feel like there is no reason to stay at home or that you would be better off running away. If your situation is bad enough that you feel like you need to run away to escape it, you probably need help from the police, social services or another organisation who could try to make things better for you.
The Runaway Helpline can only provide services to children and young people within the United Kingdom, and information and advice on this site relates to the UK only.
