If you have had a text from Runaway Helpline, it means we’ve been told you’re away from home. We want to make sure you’re ok and that you know you can get in touch if you need help or you want to talk about things.

If we text you, it usually means that someone has reported you missing to the police and the police want to make sure you are safe and well. They will continue to look for you until they have seen you and made sure you are ok. If you’re not ready to talk to the police, you can call or text us at Runaway Helpline to talk about your situation. Your calls and texts are confidential.

Maybe you are away from home, but you don’t see yourself as a missing person. Maybe it’s not safe for you at home and that’s why you’ve run away.  You may be feeling worried that the police will bring you back home before you are ready. Runaway Helpline won’t make you go home. If you like, we can help you to talk to the police about your situation or we can help by passing a message to your family or carer first while you decide what to do.
